The Charity owns & maintains 7 single-occupancy almshouses in St Margaret’s at Cliffe
It was established in 1959, in accordance with a generous bequest by Miss Amy Temple
Her vision was to provide affordable homes for those in need.
There are seven Amy Temple cottages, situated in the heart of the village of St Margaret's which form part of the community. Go to this section to see inside the cottages.
The Charity of Amy Temple owes its existence to the thoughtfulness and generosity of Miss Amy Temple. Go to this section to learn about our history and meet our Trustees.

Over several years we undertook a project to build three new cottages, extend and renovate the four original cottages and provide parking spaces for all seven properties, which cost approximately £550,000.
The Charity itself was able to provide about £100,000 of this and also took out a mortgage to raise another £200,000, but this still left £250,000 to be found.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of local individuals and businesses, as well as national and local charitable foundations, we were able to raise the additional funds.
Without these donations we would not have been able to complete our project in 2020 and also not been able to embark on a new project in 2022 to install solar panels for all seven cottages and therefore we would like to say a special thanks to:
The Garfield Weston Foundation
The Quaker Housing Trust
